Here's exactly where your voice goes.
No buried policy. No "we may, in aggregate, anonymously". This is the whole picture, on one page, before you ever tap the orb.
What stays on your device
The orb itself, the app, your draft captures before you finish speaking, your settings, and the cached view of your timeline. None of that leaves your phone.
What goes to our servers, and why
When you finish a capture, the audio and transcript are sent to your private account on Amanu's infrastructure. They are encrypted in transit and at rest. They are stored against your user, not pooled.
We use them for one thing: showing them back to you, and keeping them in sync between your devices.
What goes to Anthropic
Your transcript, after capture, is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for triage. That's the step that turns a sentence like "remind me to call Mum on Sunday and I'm a bit nervous about the meeting" into a reminder, a person, and a mood.
Anthropic processes the transcript and returns the structured items. Under their API terms, your data isn't used to train their models.
What goes to OpenAI
If you use talk-back, your live audio is streamed to OpenAI's Realtime API while the conversation is happening. We also use OpenAI's Whisper for some transcription paths.
OpenAI's API terms say your data isn't used to train their models. The audio leg of the call routes through our self-hosted LiveKit cluster, not a third-party voice SaaS.
What we never do
- We don't sell your data. To anyone. Ever.
- We don't show you ads. We don't have an ads product.
- We don't use your captures to train any model, ours or anyone else's.
- We don't read your captures. The triage is automated, and your account is private.
- We don't share your data with friends you've connected to, unless you've shared a specific item with them on purpose.
What you can do
- Export everything, any time, in plain text and JSON.
- Delete everything, any time, with one tap. We mean delete, not "soft delete for 30 days".
- Turn off talk-back, turn off cloud sync, turn off the people graph. Each as a separate switch.
